Total See-all

So they're operating x-ray scanners that can see through your clothes to see hidden guns and explosives at Heathrow in the United Kingdom. Privacy advocates are upset, but the system they've set up makes sense to me.

It's a very low dose X-ray, the images are not stored, it's same sex operated and the operator that sees the image will not see the person

I'm all for privacy rights but I don't see the harm in this. It makes me think of the Total Recall scene in the spaceport, but without the green skeleton animations. Am I willing to give up too much? I'm totally not bothered by it. Hell, if someone gets their rocks off by looking at an x-ray scan of my scrawny ass while I pass through security, the pathetic nature of their life is enough to compensate me for any embarassment.

Thoughts, kids?

We're sorry

Sad, but also strangely heartwarming: http://www.sorryeverybody.com/

Perhaps there's solidarity in contrition.

World Of Hope?

There are a series of articles on Salon with a lot of ideas about what needs to happen for the democrats to take the power back, Rage Against the Machine-style. The article is called Why Americans Hate Democrats—A Dialogue, which is a bit ridiculous, but the articles are interesting.

Interesting point: When the democrats move to the right, the republicans move farther to the right.

I will rock your Friday night.

This is an announcement for my Chicago jeauns who enjoy live music. My new band, Our Friends Electric, is playing at the Big Horse Lounge (On Milwaukee, just east of the Double Door) tomorrow night. The show starts at 9. Be there or kindly be square.

World of Shit

I'm so depressed about the election. Really I feel alienated from the majority of the country in a very stark way. It's extremely dissapointing to realize that people are motivated so strongly by what can only be some combination of ignorance, bigotry, religious fanaticism, greed and fear. I've always been let down by the media and the politicans, but this is the first time that I really feel despondant about we the people.

Sorry to rant, but frankly, It's an overwhelming feeling.

Bad movie Haiku

With all the bad news that the majority of our electorate are idiots and that they voted against their economic interest, I think we need a diversion. Thus, I bring you: Bad movie haiku. Submit your haiku summaries of movies, the worse the movie, the better.

Some examples:
Dawn of the Dead (remake)
When zombies attack
Always carry a shotgun
And aim for their heads

Mad Max:
Motorcycle freaks
They ran down my wife and son
Johnny boy now you die

Real Genius:
Young freshman at school
Too much work makes his brain melt
Built a space laser

Over the Top:
Doesn't know his son
Stallone likes to arm wrestle
Drives a big rig far

Rook to bishop

If there's a blow-out tonight, and Kerry wins both the popular and electoral votes, will a winner be announced? Do they have to wait for pending lawsuits?

I want the instant gratification if at all possible, yo.

Do you drink coffee like a maniac?

At the risk of sounding trite, hackneyed, and grammatically incorrect, I drink way too much coffee.

Election watch

Maybe I'm just making everyone more nervous, but I thought this would be a good repository for us to admit our anxieties, lodge our complaints, share our excitment, unleash our vitriol, etc regarding today's debacle--er, election.

Little URL window thingy

We should get one of those nifty teeny weeny graphics that fits in the url window. Maybe a cupelo. Maybe a J.
