I posted the pictures I took at Intonation 2006 with my camera phone in the gallery.
Anyone care to discuss the awesomeness of that festival? It had perfect weather (down to the dramatic sprinkle during the Bloc Party set), unexpectedly entertaining bands, rooster sauce, and all the Sparks you could drink. I couldn't ask for much more than that.
My rock 'n roll high points were Bloc Party, High On Fire, Rhymefest, and Lupe Fiasco. But, everything was at least pretty good in a chilling in the sun context, with the exception of The Streets. (That marks the second time in two weeks that I left a Streets performance after about 3 songs.)
Rhymefest was particularly amazing. I don't know if I've ever seen an MC who knew how to work a crowd that well. There was this subtle, racial tension at the beginning of the set, what with all these white kids in the crowd (like me) who weren't quite sure how much fun they were allowed to have at a hip-hop performance. It's stupid, but it was there, and I wasn't the only one feeling that way. Rhymefest must have noticed, and he worked a few lines into his first freestyle about how the crowd was white and he was black, but it doesn't matter; everyone just needs to chill out and enjoy the show. His version was a lot more stylish and eloquent. It may sound silly, but it was perfectly delivered, and you could feel people starting to relax afterward. It's hard to describe the experience, but it felt good. I wouldn't miss another chance to see him live.
P.S. - I suppose this is a good time to point out that I integrated the gallery into jeaun more closely. You should be able to add new albums from the "gallery" link in the "create content" menu. Most of you should have permission to do this. If the link isn't there, and you want to add some photos, send me an e-mail and I'll add you to the list.
