Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?
Your Son, Fuckhead That He Is...
Submitted by wadsbone on Thu, 08/18/2005 - 13:31. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?
Christopher (Ronnie) Walken is running for president.
Lizz sent this link out in an email this morning. I heard something about it a few days ago, but I didn't realize they had a website set up. I'm not convinced that it's legit, but it doesn't seem quite funny enough to be fake. (Except for the pictures; the pictures on that site are ridiculous. See above.) Christopher Walken running for presidient might be even slightly more surreal than Arnold Schwarzenegger running for governor of California. Maybe Arnold will run against Walken and we'll get to see the single most entertaining presidential debate of all time.
Bluff, gimmick, or flaw?
It's bad enough that people 'round the world hate our guts
Submitted by josephm on Mon, 08/01/2005 - 16:59. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?Okay, after my suggestion that all of us sitting around the table at Cleo's tonight pledge to post one Jeaun item in the following 24 hours, I suppose I should pony up. I will do so thusly:
I know we ruled out Boing Boing retreads, but this doesn't technically qualify as such, so hold with me. Dino found the site linked from a Craigslist posting. We don't know what to make of it, really. It's not blatantly offensive, unless you consider awful music with cliched, almost jingoistic lyrics offensive. Besides being extremely and unconditionally patriotic, there's nothing that gives them away as being particularly right-wing (until you check the links page).

Now we're fucked!
Submitted by Colin on Fri, 07/01/2005 - 03:40. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?Sandra Day O'Connor resigns from the Supreme Court. Bush has spoken in the Rose Garden praising her service to the country and in the back of his mind planning to nominate a conservative to the bench. This is like a wet dream for those Americans who are conservative. The Senate is gonna get ugly real quick because hopefully the Democrats will filibuster any totally horrible nominees. Any ideas? Countries to flee to?
Unitarian Jihad
Submitted by wadsbone on Mon, 06/20/2005 - 17:28. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?Greetings to the Imprisoned Citizens of the United States. We are Unitarian Jihad. There is only God, unless there is more than one God. The vote of our God subcommittee is 10-8 in favor of one God, with two abstentions. Brother Flaming Sword of Moderation noted the possibility of there being no God at all, and his objection was noted with love by the secretary.

Boulez down the law
Submitted by Shippy on Thu, 05/26/2005 - 00:18. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?If you listen to "music," and you are not conversant with the music of Carter, Boulez, Gubaidulina, et al., you are by any reasonable definition a musical illiterate. It's like watching 'Friends' and not knowing who T.S. Eliot was. Think about it. Really."Grin", jeaun.com, 29 September 2004
Pierre Boulez, now eighty, still patrols the corridors of music like a hip but ruthless headmaster. ... the Ensemble Sospeso recently commissioned eight works in honor of the birthday boy. One of the better efforts, ironically, was by a pop artist: Thurston Moore, of Sonic Youth, with his half-raucous, half-sweet piano piece.

Grineffect
Submitted by wadsbone on Wed, 05/11/2005 - 23:43. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw?Hey, look, Grin is back! Or, at least, someone who claims to be grin going by the name "cropcircle".
Coincidentally, I was listening to Boulez when I read the comment. No joke. Now I'm listening to Messiaen. It's not doing much to get my booty shakin', but it has it's merits.

Reunion.
Submitted by markrpaulson on Tue, 05/10/2005 - 10:51. Bluff, Gimmick, Or Flaw? So, I'm about to postmark my reunion registation form, but I thought that I'd first find out what people ended up signing up for. All meals? No meals? Golf Scramble? And, just for the record, anyone who wants to rock it old school is welcome to stay in the attic of 1332 Broad.
